Elgin, IL. The seventh Latino Film Festival Elgin, a satellite from The Chicago Latino Film Festival – on its 35th year, the most influential Latino Film Festival in the USA -, will be held on April 5, 6 and 7, with drama, comedy and based in real stories independent movies produced in Dominican Republic, Cuba, Peru, México, and Costa Rica. The kickoff party will be on April 5 at Elgin Community College, in the Spartan Auditorium; doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the Dominican Republic production What I feel for you /Lo que siento por ti, based on real stories of social inclusion, with a mother of two autistic youngsters, a couple trying unsuccessfully have a child, and a father of a Special Olympics athlete. The opening reception will follow.
On Saturday, April 6 and Sunday March 7, the movies will be shown at Marcus Theatres located on 111 S. Randall Rd., in Elgin.
On Saturday April 6, at 5 p.m., from Cuba, Mantis Nest /Nido de Mantis, a crime romance film shows the migratory crisis from the island to United States on 1994 while a young woman has hours to prove she was not her parents’ killer.
At 7 p.m. from Peru, All Can Fall/ Caiga quien caiga based on the story of the capture of Vladimiro Montesinos a former advisor of ex-president Alberto Fujimori. In the first week of opening this movie surpassed the 100 thousand people in the audience.
On Sunday April 7, at 3 p.m. from comes Mexico: In times of Rain/ Tiempos de lluvia, a story of an indigenous woman who lives in the city while her mom takes care of her son, there is a conflict when she wants to bring her child to live with her in Mexico City while her grandma thinks it is better for him to stays in the indigenous reserve.
Then, at 5 p.m. Costa Rica: The Dance of the Gazelle/El baile de la gacela proves how love and the passion for dancing have no age.
